The Call to be Borderless

In a post-pandemic world, Filipino architects face a unique set of challenges that require them to be innovative, adaptable, and globally connected.
Borderless: the state the Filipino architects are called to.
We ought to embrace technology, engage in projects and partnerships with international firms, leveraging online platforms to work seamlessly across different locations while focusing on sustainability. Agility to changing needs is the attitude we are called to possess by designing adaptable spaces that can be easily reconfigured to meet changing needs, such as remote work and hybrid living arrangements. Health and safety through improved ventilation, touchless technology, and access to nature must be enhanced.

Borderless architects engage with and involve communities in the design process to ensure that projects meet their needs and reflect their cultural identity. This means heightening social impact by focusing on projects that address social issues, such as affordable housing and community infrastructure. By continuously learning and believing in innovation, we ought to stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in architecture through continuous learning and professional development, finding innovative solutions by experimenting with new ideas and technologies to create innovative solutions for complex problems.

By embracing these strategies and more, Filipino architects can transcend borders, addressing both local and global challenges with creativity, resilience, and a commitment to making a positive impact on society.

Characterized by great advancements in all areas of human activity, the world is complex and diverse, defined by rapid technological advancement, globalization, and increasing interconnectedness between people, nations, and cultures. The Filipino architects hope that a world view will influence our perception and our decisions, and define ourselves to be borderless in our role as problem-solvers. To effect change however, we believe that it is by responding to the challenges, that we ought to establish relevance, working collaboratively in society.

We learn from other countries and cultures, at the same time that we discover ourselves as a people, learning by doing. Architecture goes beyond mere form & aesthetics — now it’s about being relevant and finding meaningful solutions to modern-day challenges.

It is time to challenge the norm and break down barriers.

We are BORDERLESS!
